Yet another question for all:   Posted Tue Apr 16, 02   1:07 PM

Just one quick question: I've still got my stock B18A1 in my 91 Integra [130hp@6000rpm/121lbs@5000rpm]. Should I spend the money to make a customized super/turbo chargers now, or should I wait untill I have the money to afford the JDM B18C-R Integra Type R Engine [200hp@8000rpm/135lbs@7500]? Then I could add a supercharger and turbocharger without having to have them custom made. Not exactly sure which way to go. The JDM Type R engine will cost me about $5,000, and then normal super/turbo costs. Custom made super/turbo chargers cost almost a $1,000 more to make to fit my engine [At my race shop]. As always, thanx in advance all.

I would start with replacing the motor. If you have any parts custom built and then change motors in the future, you just wasted a load of cash because it will be hard to sell them used. Personally I don't like to buy used race parts, because they have obviously been used for racing and have probably led a hard life. I much prefer new for reliability and (sometimes) warranty.

A swap is the absolute most cost efficient mod you'll be able to do. Don't even bother fabricating induction for it. Swap it!

It will cost you more now, but will pay for itself in the long run with performance and reliability.

Base performance would be less though. Remember Nova them import guys have money to burn since our mods cost more per hp. hehe

nah bro our mods make more hp per doller. he wanted to switch to a type r and thats the biggest fing waist of money. no parts will bolt up to it. and its like twice the cost of a gsr. and it only makes 25 more hp. put in the gsr and use the extra 2500 for a turbo. integra...you have 3300 now thats more than enough to get the gsr moter in and going!
