Is anyone on here a drifter?   Posted Tue Aug 22, 06   6:38 PM

I was just curious if there were any drifters on these forums. I was thinking of buying a good RWD car and practicing on back roads and stuff. I want to get a 1986 Corolla hatchback. I dunno, any suggestions?

With todays drift craze a Corolla like that can run into the 3000-4000 range.

And Italian, you could also get a 240sx and go the way of the SR20DET.

I know they wouldnt. they only paid for part of it I got $9000 for the car. So because I CHOOSE to buy a $500 car that makes me poor huh?.......you're mentally challenged huh? that would make sense...I'll quit picking on you.

Wow, thats for a 75hp FX. The corolla everybody likes is the FX16 (or GTS) because they come with a 4A motor.

wow what a dramatic increase in price, its still a bum's car if you ask me. At least the guy isn't bullshiting about the next car he is going to drive, that's if he can afford one.

'86 at the latest as opposed to '87, and finding one in decent overall condition isnt cheap. Ill be goddamned if Im gonna pay that much for one, but enthusiasts will.

Well, since drifting is the new fad, everyone wants to be a "drifter". I have intentionally drifted cars before, and although it was entertaining and a good tool to learn car control, I can't see myself wasting tires and destroying body panels on a regular basis. If you really want to be a drifter, save up the money and go to a drifting school. I think Bondurant or Skip Barber (maybe both) host them. Then you can get lessons from a professional, driving on a safe course in a car set up for drifting. Then, if you decide its what you really want to do, buy a car for drifting, not just the cheapest RWD IRS equipped car out there. Thats my opinion, and I've known several drifters (growing up in SoCal has its benefits).

PS sweetneon, its "liar" not "lier"
