Nissan 240sx advice   Posted Mon Dec 22, 03   2:53 PM

I just got a '97 nissan 240sx theres no engine so thats why I need advice. I've been thinking about getting a Nissan SR20DET motor but I've also been thinking about just finding a stock motor and dropping that in, Which would be a better deal, I'm only 15 but I want it done by the time I'm 16 in March, and I prettymuch have no budget limitations either.

the sr20det swap would be a great project for your first car. take care to learn how to drive first, but definitely investiage the potential for you to do this yourself. most places that sell sr20det engines have online faq pages on the swap and are more than willing to help you along the way. find one with a good reputation (may not be the cheapest price), and go from there.

I agree. The SR20DET is a great motor, with a crapload of aftermarket support and parts from Japan.

The SR is definately the way to go.

Check out these sites for more info:

All three are 240sx/sr20det specialists.

The sr20 will not be smog legal in CA. And by your name, I assume you are in CA.
