It's a 1.8-liter DOHC non-VTEC motor. Makes about 140 HP and almost the same amount of torque. A lot of guys are swapping them into lighter civics due to their torque.

You can build it and throw a DOHC VTEC head on; with this combo a lot of people do pretty good. 12's with a decent set of cams. Not that you would want to ever mod a Honda

well, like i said, Im leaving the car completely stock. I just need a winter car. My GTP is the fun one. I dont think it would be wise to do those things to a 175,000 mile car anyways. Im just curious as to how much life is left in this little thing.

that little engine ought to still take a little bit of a beating for a while if it was well taken care of before you got it.

nice photos too Nick.

Yup, if the motor was taken care of it should go a long time. My buddy had 240,000 on his CRX before his B16 swap.

Why would he want to go from a 1.8 to a 1.6?

Uh, the statement about miles applies to pretty much all Honda motors. That's the kind of reliability they all have. His stock motor was a SOHC 1.5 liter.

If the tranny seems fine right now, it'll hold up fine.

agreed. Unless you already notice problems you will probably not have to worry for quite some time.

I've gone through insurance info on all types of cars and repeatidly Hondas are at the top of the list for relability.

The only thing I notice is the car either needs a motor mount or a trans mount because the car has a small clunk when I shift into a higher gear. It seems like the tranny is shifting and running smoothly but im sure it needs a mount of some kind.
