Dyno's and stress...   Posted Fri Sep 5, 03   10:47 AM

I'm curious about running a car on a dyno. The loading that is put on the engine by the hydraulic torque converter type device on an engine dyno (or the big roller wheel of x weight on a wheel dyno)....is it more or less than loads generated on the road at similar speeds?

We've got this saab engine and it'd be PRIME to tune it on a dyno with the efi and all prior to putting it into the car, however....the oil pan IS the transmission, so we'd need to design a little dry sump pan for it. My decision making is trying to determine the viability of that vs. the risk of scattering the transmission and/or clutch on the first run.
