From an article in Car Life, March 1970:
Duster
0-60 in 6.2 seconds
0-100 in 17.5 seconds
30-70 mph in 5.3
Quarter mile in 14.72 @ 94.24 mph
14.8 mpg overall
List price, $2547; weight, 3105 lb (3520 as tested)
Gear ratios: 2.45, 1.45, 1.00 (7.91:1, 4.69:1, 3.23:1) - probably tested an automatic

It depends on the year. Dusters were good from 70-71 from the factory, the rest are kinda shitty and look pretty nasty, with at the most a 318. A 70-71 might have a 340 in it, and probably have a better chance of having a high performance differential, 8 3/4 with sure grip. A 340 will be backed by a 727 trans. The duster is an A Body, and probably weighs in around 3100-3200 lbs. It wont have a big block in it, unless the owner put one in. Schumacher sells mounts though, to put a big block in an A body, but you have to move some stuff around like the master cylinder. TTI makes headers to fit this if you put a big block in an Abody. these cars are usually cheap cause they made so many, and haul ass with a big block. if you wanna see some, go to www.bigblockdart.com, youll see some nice fast dusters there

The b-body roadrunner is pretty good from 68 till 71, but the 71 is a different body style and weighs more too and isnt as good looking but they still are cool. the RR weighs somewhere around 3500 lbs. This car will not have a small block because it was never an option, except maybe a 71, with a 340, they started puttingthem in that year. 68-70 will have a 383, or a 440. you wont find one with a 426 hemi that you can afford, if you do, let me know. the roadrunner will turn a lot more heads than a duster, probably have more power depending on what you do to it, and always be worth more. power on these cars depends on what you do to it, but it will be more expensive to build a big block than a small block. the quality is pretty good on these cars too. it al depends on if you want a muscle car or a compact car that you can make into a muscle car that weighs less. just remember that making it into a muscle car is gonna cost a lot, youll probably have to yank out the 318 thats most likely in it, the weaker 904 trans, and all that other stuff.

right now im thinking of changing my 364 into a 406 stroker. The new stroker mopar crank makes a 360 into a 402, and im .020 over so it'd be a 406. 4.02 BORE X 4.00 STROKE . Ill have to show those 383 chevys what a real stroker engine should be

Once you get that done I'll let you test against my 383 strokers. I would luv to participate in that shoot-out. I have built and run many (383 strokers) and still currently have one in my Freak and most recently in my 91 S10 that I sold. I do beleive it is my favourite engine. The mods, the mods, so much you can do with it, so little money. I have been toying with the idea of swapping a 383 stroker into the T/A but for now it;s just an idea on the drawing board.

Why a 383? Why not an LS1? 383's are cheaper to mod, yes, but the LS1 has soooo much potential. And it'll put 320 to the ground right out of the crate. LS1 was the best thing ever to happen to the F-body. I am really thinking about trading in the stang for a WS6 or an SS. The first thing to go would be that crap that GM calls a rearend

I am not 100% positive, but I think they only have a 7.5" rear. V6 Mustangs come with a 7.5" rear. The Mustang 8.8" is worlds stronger and will take slicks without a problem at all. But the Ford 9" is the cream of the crop. I love the Ford 9" rear. That is what I had on my '95 GT.
