nope the mustang weighed about acouple more hundred pounds then the f-body, im not downing the mustang, its just the facts ive read, also never get a convertiable, it puts 300-500 pounds extra on the car lol

How would getting a car with no roof put extra weight on it?

If the convertable top is electric the motors would way it down, but no where NEAR 300-500 extra pounds, aroound 50-100 is more realistic.

Those convertible tops are made of kevlar. I have handled many of them and they weigh practically nothing. The only reason I could see a convertible weighing more is because of increased rigidity to the body of the car to keep it from bending.

grand prix front end with a shitty 90s mustang back end. I even said that to Jim himself when I met him at the Media Days Unveiling of the new GTO at the LA auto show in 2003. He got kinda mad at first, but when he looked at it, he agreed with me.

Most convertibles (the new mustang being an exception, since it was planned to be made into a convertible and given the right structure to begin with) have to have extra metal added in the form of support to make up for the missing roof (just having t-tops on my MR2 made it less stiff than the sunroof model). There is also some weight added due to equipment needed to make the top go up and down. All in all, MOST (not all) convertibles are between 100 and 200 pounds heavier than their fixed roof counterparts (not to mention being that much easier to break into).
